The St. Scholastica Roman Catholic Church’s Community of Catholic Women (CCW) in Lecanto, FL have begun an outreach to help meet the needs of those in our community.
This fall we commenced with bringing into our monthly CCW meeting a select food item (soup, Mac & cheese, canned vegetable, etc.). We have connected with Daystar Life Center and Citrus County Blessings, and alternate monthly with providing to these agencies our contributions.
We realize that every bit helps, and we thank AnnMarie Briercheck (Daystar) and Rachelle Garrett (Blessings) for their support and guidance in helping us to help others. We are thankful to these agencies for their presence and their unwavering dedication to lend a helping hand to our brothers and sisters nearby.

✨ 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time ✨
In today’s Gospel (Luke 14:1, 7-14), Jesus reminds us that true greatness is found in humility.
“For all who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
🙏 May we seek the lowest place, serve others with love, and let Christ lift us up.

In the face of tragedy, we turn to Christ and to our faith. We pray for the victims of the shooting, for their families and loved ones, and for all who are grieving. May God comfort the brokenhearted, heal the wounded, and strengthen us to be witnesses of His mercy and peace. ✝️🕊
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18
✨ Reflection: “Whitewashed or Witness?”
Jesus’ words to the Pharisees are piercing: “You are like whitewashed tombs…”—a warning against spiritual superficiality. It’s a call to examine whether our outward expressions of faith reflect an inner life rooted in truth, humility, and love.
Saint Monica, whose memorial we celebrate, offers a radiant contrast. Her quiet perseverance, deep prayer, and unwavering hope led to the conversion of her son, Saint Augustine. She didn’t preach with grandeur—she witnessed with grace.
Challenge for the day:
Let your faith be more than polished appearances. Let it be a living witness, like Monica’s—marked by patience, prayer, and authenticity.

✨ Our New Sign & Logo ✨
We are excited to share our new parish sign on West Homosassa Trail — a lasting witness to our Catholic faith and Benedictine heritage.
🕊️ The Meaning of Our Logo
• Three Images – the staff, book, and dove are traditional symbols of St. Scholastica, found in icons and depictions of her.
• Two Words – Simplicity and Obedience, drawn from the Rule of St. Benedict, remind us of the values at the heart of our spiritual life.
Together, these images and words reflect who we are as a parish and our connection to the Benedictine tradition.
🙏 May this new sign stand as a symbol of faith, tradition, and community for all who pass by.

✨ Memorial of Saint Dominic ✨
“Arm yourself with prayer instead of a sword; be clothed with humility instead of fine clothes.” – St. Dominic
Today, we honor St. Dominic, a man of deep prayer and tireless preaching who sought to bring the light of Christ to the world. His life reminds us that true change begins in the heart — through prayer, humility, and sharing the Gospel with love.
May we, like St. Dominic, speak truth with compassion and live in a way that draws others closer to Jesus.
Lord, give us the courage to share Your Word and the humility to live it daily.

Participating in the Holy Eucharist is not just an obligation… It’s a lifeline.
In every Mass, Christ offers Himself fully, inviting us to draw near, surrender what weighs us down, and receive the grace our hearts truly need.
The Eucharist strengthens our relationship with Jesus and leads us closer to the salvation He won for us. Let us come with faith, ready to be transformed.

Feast of St. Mary Magdalene
Today we honor the Apostle to the Apostles — the first to witness the Resurrection of Christ.

🕊️ Gospel Reflection – Matthew 11:20–24
Today, Jesus speaks with a heavy heart—not out of anger, but sorrow. Chorazin and Bethsaida saw His miracles yet did not turn back to God. It’s a reminder to us that witnessing God’s grace isn’t enough—our hearts must respond.
Are we allowing the signs and blessings in our lives to transform us? Or are we letting them pass by, unchanged?
Let us not be indifferent to God’s mercy. May today be the day we choose repentance, gratitude, and growth.

“I have not come to bring peace, but a sword…” (Mt 10:34)
Jesus reminds us that following Him may cause division—even within families—when our faith calls us to stand apart from worldly values. Yet, He also promises a reward for every act of kindness shown even in simple ways.
🕊️ Reflection: Are we brave enough to choose Christ when it costs us comfort or acceptance? Let’s welcome His call to faithfulness—even when it divides—and trust that every small act done in His name carries eternal significance.

“Fearless Belonging”
Jesus doesn’t sugarcoat discipleship. He reminds His Apostles—and us—that following Him means sharing in His trials. If He was misunderstood and maligned, we shouldn’t be surprised when we are too.
But here’s the grace: we belong to Him. And that belonging is stronger than fear.
He tells us not to be afraid—not of rejection, not of persecution, not even of death. Because our worth is known by the Father. Every sparrow, every hair, every whisper in the dark—He sees it all. And He holds us in that knowing.
To acknowledge Christ before others is to live boldly in the light. It’s to proclaim love, truth, and mercy from the housetops, even when the world calls us foolish. And in that witness, Jesus promises to stand with us before the Father.

Today we celebrate the feast of St. Benedict of Nursia, the Father of Western Monasticism and twin brother of our beloved patroness, St. Scholastica. Born in 480 AD, their lives were rooted in prayer, humility, and a deep love for Christ.
St. Benedict’s legacy lives on through his Rule, which shaped monastic life for centuries—and through his powerful prayer that still inspires hearts today:
“O Lord, I place myself in your hands and dedicate myself to you.
I pledge myself to do your will in all things…
To prefer nothing to the love of Christ.”
(Prayer of St. Benedict)
May we, like Benedict and Scholastica, seek holiness in the ordinary and trust God in all things.

✨ “Sent with nothing but faith… yet carrying Heaven’s power.”

🕊️ He Called Them by Name
Jesus summoned His Twelve and sent them out—not as perfect men, but as faithful ones. Each name listed in today’s Gospel reminds us: God calls real people with real flaws to share in His mission. He doesn’t wait for perfection; He equips those willing to go.
Today, may we listen for that same call—to heal, to speak hope, and to proclaim:
“The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

📖 Gospel of the Day – July 8, 2025
“A demoniac who could not speak was brought to Jesus,
and when the demon was driven out the mute man spoke.”
(Matthew 9:32–38)
The crowds were amazed, but some doubted. Still, Jesus continued — healing every disease, teaching in the synagogues, and proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom.
When He saw the crowds, His heart was moved with pity.
They were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.
And so He said:
“The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few.”
Jesus not only heals and restores — He sees the needs of His people and calls us to respond.
🙏 Let us pray today for all those who are lost, voiceless, or in need of healing… and for more hearts to say yes to serving in His vineyard.

📖 Monday Gospel Reflection — July 7
“Take courage, daughter! Your faith has saved you.”
— Matthew 9:22
In today’s Gospel, we witness two powerful moments of healing: a woman suffering for twelve years is healed by her faith, and a young girl is raised from the dead by the touch of Christ.
🕊️ No pain is too deep, no situation too hopeless for Jesus. He sees your faith—even the silent prayers—and responds with mercy.
✨ As we begin this new week, may we approach the Lord with the same bold faith, trusting in His power to heal and restore.

The Harvest Is Abundant 🌾
Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time | Luke 10:1–12, 17–20
Today, we hear Jesus send out the seventy-two:
“The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few.”
Just as He sent them with peace and purpose, He sends us—into our homes, workplaces, and communities—to proclaim:
✨ “The Kingdom of God is at hand.”
Let’s rejoice not in the wonders we perform, but in this profound truth:
🕊 “Our names are written in heaven.”
📖 May we be courageous in our witness, joyful in our mission, and faithful to His call.
